Ugh~ I feel your pain (>.<)
The amount of times I redo a rough sketch/part of a rough sketch (just before I add the outlines) can be ridiculous sometimes...
...especially if it's something I've never drawn before.

Yeah, I see what ya' mean :)
My drawings tend to be pretty small though...even during the drawing process.
I usually draw on a 800x600 or a 1024x768 canvas to start with.

I usually start drawing with it zoomed in...otherwise, when it comes to drawing something
like Yoshi's nose...there's too many "straight lines" and it just looks an utter mess!
Usually 300% / 400% is sufficient enough to start with :)

If I ever drew stuff using a computer...

I'd probably make every single image 4K. -w-

This is the struggle I have every time I draw something. It can get very irritating at times.

The main problem is that when I finally get it right

it goes off the screen anyway

I was doing some drawings just now about that. Even if you get the size, you might have to sometimes make a sacrifice with it being off the edge.

*draws the head a bit too big*
Oh.
*draws the body a little too wide in unintentional places*
Frick.
*gets the proportion perfect but cannot fit the whole thing on the drawing space*
